Dating age difference rules xkcd
So, check out the latest xkcd web comic (or click the picture to see the rest). And is the number of this particular comic coincidence? Hardware stores near Michael Shermer’s house better start keeping track of who buys what.Estimates vary, but 4.3 (or 7.7 F) colder is the smallest I've heard. Since there was an ice age, you'd expect global temperature to be low ~20k years ago and so on.8 degrees C is more standard, maybe 7, but 4.3 is too low. There's one or two minor tweeks, like the ice may have reached about to NYC along the coast, but it was a bit further south in the center of the country. I'm mostly interested in the temperature line itself, both the historical data and the forward projections. The reason I ask is that I'd like to (in a classroom context) hold this image up as a good example of the visualisation of data, that could be emulated in the area of science relevant to that classroom (zoology).
Just in case you couldn't figure out that "GITHUB for Lesbians" is illogical, Randall tells you that it is! It's like that crappy strip about the news and big numbers. But his examples, while ever so wacky, build upon the false premise that the originals also aren't good adaptations/comparisons.It reminds me of the Simpsons when Krusty tries new material, and talks about how weird it is that there are yellow and white pages.I'm sure we've all seen some similar version of this joke concept before, and I don't think it's a bad concept.
But this is an especially lame execution, mostly because it doesn't make any sense.
